Robert Lester Folsom recorded Music and Dreams in Georgia in the mid-1970s, pressing only a small run of copies that circulated quietly through the South before disappearing almost entirely. That kind of private press obscurity, the province of collectors who trade in regional Americana and homespun singer-songwriter craft, is exactly where this record built its reputation, one careful listen at a time.
Some albums land like lightning; others slowly reshape the world around them. Originally self-released in 1976, Robert Lester Folsom's Music and Dreams has traveled from hand-to-hand obscurity to cult classic status, finding new generations of listeners and renewed acclaim. For it's golden jubilee, Anthology Recordings now presents Music and Dreams: 50th Anniversary Edition, a double LP that pairs a remastered treatment of the album alongside the original reel-to-reel demos, adding new contour and color to music that continues to find an audience in it's own time.
