Soul Coughing's dissolution left Mike Doughty with something to prove, and Haughty Melodic was his answer. Recorded with producer Dan Wilson, the 2005 full-length translated his coffeehouse solo acoustic work into lush, radio-friendly arrangements without losing the wordplay and rhythmic quirkiness that made him a cult favorite in the '90s.
