Violinist David LaFlamme and his then-wife Linda anchored one of the most sonically distinctive acts to emerge from the Haight-Ashbury scene, bringing a classical elegance to the same Fillmore stages where the Dead and Jefferson Airplane were rewriting the rules. Their interplay between electric violin and rock instrumentation set them apart from nearly every other band in that world, and catching them this early, before their debut LP even dropped, reveals just how fully formed that vision already was.
Recorded live at the Fillmore in 1968, this album captures It's a Beautiful Day during the formative days of the San Francisco psychedelic scene. Blending rock, folk, jazz, and classical influences, the band delivers expansive performances that highlight their distinctive sound and improvisational approach. Featuring early versions of fan favorites including ""White Bird,"" ""Time Is,"" and ""Bombay Calling,"" this collection offers a rare snapshot of a group that helped define the spirit of the late-'60s West Coast music movement.
