Recorded during a period of total personal chaos within the band, the songs on Rumours drew directly from the simultaneous romantic dissolutions between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks and John and Christine McVie, giving the record an emotional rawness that listeners recognized immediately. It spent 31 weeks at number one and became one of the best-selling albums in history, yet the expanded sessions here reveal how much craft and deliberate revision went into what sounds effortless.
This deluxe edition of Rumours includes the original album and the b-side "Silver Springs, " a dozen unreleased live recordings from the group s 77 world tour, an entire disc filled with unreleased takes from the album s recording sessions, and an additional disc of outtakes.
