Dan Snaith recorded *Start Breaking My Heart* under the name Manitoba before legal pressure from rock musician Handsome Dick Manitoba forced the project name change to Caribou. Released in 2001, it's the album where Snaith's dense, psychedelic approach to bedroom electronica first fully clicked, drawing early comparisons to the kosmische explorers he clearly revered. For fans who came in through *Swim* or *Our Love*, this is where the excavation begins.
