Bromberg has spent decades as one of the most in-demand bassists in contemporary jazz, equally at home laying down the low end for pop icons and pushing the harmonic envelope in his own studio work. His command of both upright and electric bass gives his records a rare textural range, and Awakening leans into that versatility with an all-star cast that reflects just how deep his Rolodex runs after 40-plus years in the business.
