The blend of studio and live material here isn't a compromise; it's a statement about a band equally committed to the compositional and the spontaneous.

COMMERCIAL MUSIC is the debut album from Chicago's EX IBEX, an audacious new quintet of seasoned improvisers taking inspiration from the city's storied creative music scene. Clocking in at 52 minutes, the album presents a balanced offering of material from a studio session and a live performance to create a cohesive, unified, and bold statement. The musicians approach their canvas with a confoundingly wide palette of sonic elements, from knotty slabs of art-punk and prickly avant-prog to gorgeous expanses of ambient electronic and spiritual jazz. And funk.Don't forget the funk.

Tracklist:

Only I Love You Likely

They Only Like You Lovely

People Not Withstanding

But I Was Told This Party Would Be a Good Place To Take a Nap

An Abundance of Lack

UPC: 781661739231
Label: Birdwatcher Records
Release Date: 9.11.26
Format: CD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0673/7038/5569/files/packshot-ex-ibex-commercial-music-cd-cd-relix.jpg?v=1791945791
