Windir was a Norwegian black metal band from Sognefjord, active from 1994 to 2004, known for blending traditional Norwegian folk elements with aggressive black metal soundscapes. Led by vocalist Terje Bakken, the band created a distinctive atmospheric and melodic approach to the genre that earned them critical acclaim across their five studio albums. Though the band disbanded following Bakken's tragic death in 2004, Windir's legacy remains influential in the folk metal and black metal communities.
