Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, known mononymously as Seal, is a British singer, songwriter, and record producer who has sold more than 20 million albums and singles worldwide. Born on February 19, 1963, Seal first rose to prominence after signing with Trevor Horn's legendary ZTT Records, releasing his self-titled debut album in 1991. That critically and commercially successful effort introduced the world to his sophisticated blend of soul, pop, and electronic influences through standout singles "Crazy" and "Killer," both of which achieved major chart success on both sides of the Atlantic.
Seal's sophomore album, also self-titled and released in 1994, cemented his status as a global superstar, particularly with the timeless ballad "Kiss from a Rose." The track topped the US Billboard Hot 100 after being featured on the The NeverEnding Story III and Batman Forever soundtracks, becoming one of the defining songs of the decade. Over the course of his career, Seal has released a series of well-received albums including Human Being (1998), Seal IV (2003), System (2007), Soul (2008), Seal 6: Commitment (2010), and most recently Standards (2017), showcasing his evolution as an artist and his commitment to musical excellence.
An award-winning artist with three Brit Awards, four Grammy Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award to his name, Seal has also been recognized by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors with two Ivor Novello Awards for "Best Song Musically and Lyrically." Beyond the recording studio, he has expanded his influence in the entertainment industry by serving as a coach on The Voice Australia in 2012, 2013, and 2017, sharing his expertise with the next generation of musical talent.
