Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Oakland, California in 1991, known for their energetic ska-punk sound and rebellious spirit that helped define the genre for a generation. Led by vocalist/guitarist Lars Frederiksen and bassist Matt Freeman, the band achieved mainstream success with their 1995 self-titled album and 1997's "Let's Go," becoming pioneers of the punk revival movement of the 1990s.
