Possessed is a pioneering American thrash metal band from San Francisco, formed in 1983, credited as one of the first groups to blend thrash metal with death metal elements. Led by vocalist/guitarist Jeff Becerra, the band's aggressive sound and dark lyrical themes on landmark albums like "Seven Churches" (1985) established them as influential figures in the extreme metal genre. Though they disbanded in the early 1990s, Possessed reunited in the 2000s and continue to be celebrated for their raw, uncompromising approach to metal music.
