NAILS is an American hardcore punk band from Oxnard, California, formed in 2007 by frontman Todd Jones, who previously served as guitarist for Terror and Carry On. Alongside bassist John Gianelli and drummer Taylor Young — known for his work with Disgrace and Twitching Tongues — the trio has established themselves as a brutal and uncompromising force in the contemporary hardcore scene, delivering raw, aggressive music that pushes the boundaries of the genre.
The band's discography showcases their evolution as sonic architects of controlled chaos. After introducing themselves with the Obscene Humanity EP in 2009, NAILS unleashed their debut full-length Unsilent Death the following year. Subsequent releases including Abandon All Life (2013), You Will Never Be One of Us (2016), and the collaborative I Don't Want to Know You EP (2019) featuring Max Cavalera of Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy cemented their status as innovative voices in hardcore. Most recently, the band delivered Every Bridge Burning in 2024, demonstrating their continued commitment to unrelenting artistic vision.
NAILS' impact on the hardcore punk landscape extends beyond their sonic brutality; they represent a new generation of musicians unafraid to challenge conventional song structures and embrace abrasive textures. Their collaborations with respected figures like Cavalera and their prolific output have solidified their reputation as one of the most essential and uncompromising bands in modern hardcore music.
