Miss May I

Miss May I is an American metalcore band from Troy, Ohio, formed in 2007 while the members were still in high school. The group made an immediate impact with their debut album, Apologies Are for the Weak, released through Rise Records in 2008, which climbed to No. 29 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers and No. 76 on the Billboard 200. The band's aggressive yet melodic approach to metalcore quickly earned them recognition within the heavy music community, with their material securing placements in major media — including the song "Forgive and Forget" on the Saw VI soundtrack and "Apologies Are for the Weak" in the video game Saints Row: The Third.
Over the course of their career, Miss May I released a string of studio albums that solidified their position in the metalcore landscape: Monument (2010), At Heart (2012), Rise of the Lion (2014), and Deathless (2015). The band's partnership with Rise Records came to an end in 2016, leading to a move to SharpTone Records and the release of Shadows Inside in 2017. Most recently, Miss May I delivered Curse of Existence in 2022, continuing their evolution as a band while maintaining the uncompromising intensity that has defined their sound since their inception.
Remarkably, Miss May I retained its core lineup for nearly two decades — with bassist Ryan Neff's brief departure and return being the only roster change until 2024. This stability allowed the band to develop a cohesive creative identity and build lasting connections with their fanbase, establishing them as stalwarts in the metalcore scene and proving that longevity and consistency can matter just as much as innovation in heavy music.
