Kopecky (formerly known as the Kopecky Family Band) is an American indie-rock band that emerged from Nashville, Tennessee in 2007. The ensemble, anchored by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Kelsey Kopecky and guitarist Gabe Simon, has developed a rich, layered sound built on the contributions of six members including Steven Holmes on guitar and lap steel, David Krohn on drums, Markus Midkiff on cello and keyboards, and Corey Oxendine on bass and horns. The band's collaborative arrangement of instruments and vocals creates an intricate indie-rock tapestry that has become their artistic signature.
The group's recorded output began with their self-released debut, Kids Raising Kids, which arrived in October 2012 before being reissued by ATO Records in April 2013. Their sophomore effort, Drug for the Modern Age, followed on May 19, 2015, further establishing the band's evolving sound within the indie-rock landscape. In July 2016, Kelsey Kopecky announced that the band would be taking a break, pausing their active recording and touring schedule as the members pursued other creative endeavors and personal projects.
