Jodeci

Jodeci is an American R&B quartet consisting of K-Ci, JoJo, DeVanté Swing, and Mr. Dalvin, formed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1988. Originally starting as a duo of DeVanté Swing and JoJo, the group expanded when each member brought their brother into the fold before signing with Uptown Records in 1990. Their debut album Forever My Lady (1991) launched them into the mainstream with an unprecedented run of three consecutive Billboard R&B No. 1 singles: the title track, "Stay," and "Come and Talk to Me," establishing Jodeci as a defining force in 1990s R&B.
Throughout the decade, Jodeci maintained their commercial and critical momentum with the releases of Diary of a Mad Band (1993) — featuring hits like "Cry for You" and "Feenin'" — and The Show, the After Party, the Hotel (1995), which spawned additional chart successes including "Freek'n You," "Love U 4 Life," and "Get On Up." The group's innovative approach blended hip hop soul, gospel, and new jack swing into their music, genres not traditionally associated with R&B at the time. This experimental spirit allowed them to collaborate prominently with hip hop artists and helped redefine the entire R&B landscape. Each album from this era achieved RIAA platinum certification, solidifying Jodeci's influence on the genre's evolution.
After announcing a hiatus in 1996, K-Ci & JoJo pursued a successful solo project as a duo, releasing five albums before the group reunited in 2013 for their fourth studio album, The Past, the Present, the Future (2015). To date, Jodeci has sold more than 20 million records worldwide. Complex magazine ranked them 1st on their "1990s Male R&B Group Pyramid of Excellence" list in 2014, cementing their legacy as one of the most influential groups of the decade and among the greatest R&B groups of all time.
