Jim Carroll was an American poet, author, and musician best known for his 1978 autobiography "The Basketball Diaries" and his punk rock band The Jim Carroll Band. Rising to prominence in the 1980s with the hit single "People Who Died," Carroll became an iconic figure in punk and alternative rock music. His raw, confessional style and powerful storytelling made him a legendary voice in both literature and rock music until his death in 2009.
