Hawthorne Heights

Hawthorne Heights is an American rock band formed in Dayton, Ohio, in 2001, originally performing under the name A Day in the Life. The group, fronted by JT Woodruff on lead vocals and rhythm guitar alongside bassist Matt Ridenour and lead guitarist Mark McMillon, emerged during the mid-2000s emo and alternative rock revival with a sound that resonated with mainstream audiences. The band experienced early commercial momentum that would define their career trajectory and establish them as notable figures in the post-hardcore rock landscape.
The group achieved significant commercial success with their first two albums, The Silence in Black and White (2004) and If Only You Were Lonely (2006), both earning RIAA gold certification. The latter album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and topped Billboard's Independent Albums chart, while the 2006 single "Saying Sorry" reached gold status and climbed to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. Following the tragic death of rhythm guitarist Casey Calvert in 2007, Hawthorne Heights persevered with subsequent releases including Fragile Future (2008), Skeletons (2010), and a conceptual full-length titled Zero (2013). Most recently, the band released their seventh studio album, The Rain Just Follows Me, in September 2021 via Pure Noise Records, demonstrating their enduring commitment to recording and performing.
Throughout their two-decade existence, Hawthorne Heights have maintained relevance in the alternative rock community, notably performing on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour and continuing to tour internationally. Their early commercial success and charting achievements established them as key players in the 2000s rock landscape, while their willingness to evolve through various record labels and experimental concepts has allowed them to maintain an engaged fanbase across multiple generations of rock listeners.
