Dissection is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in 1990 that pioneered a unique blend of atmospheric black metal and death metal influences. Led by founding member Jon Nödtveidt, the band became known for their intricate guitar work, haunting melodies, and deeply philosophical lyrical themes exploring concepts of darkness and enlightenment. Their landmark albums "The Sombering of the Sun" and "Reinkaos" established them as influential figures in the extreme metal underground before their initial disbandment in 2006.
