Country Joe & the Fish were an American rock band from Berkeley, California, who rose to prominence during the 1960s counterculture movement with their blend of rock, folk, and psychedelic music. Led by singer-songwriter Country Joe McDonald, the band became known for their socially conscious lyrics and energetic live performances, most famously for their anti-war anthem "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag." Though the group disbanded in the early 1970s, their music remains a defining sound of the Vietnam War era and continues to influence generations of rock and folk musicians.
