Cake is an alternative rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1991 and known for their distinctive blend of rock, funk, and spoken word elements. Led by vocalist John McCrea, the band achieved mainstream success with hits like "The Distance," "Never There," and "Short Skirt/Long Jacket," characterized by clever lyrics and unconventional instrumentation. With their satirical approach to rock music and cult-like following, Cake remains an influential force in alternative rock nearly three decades after their formation.
